Here's another "former liberal" who showed up to the conservative movement 10 seconds ago and now demands that we accept abominations like gay surrogacy, and then calls us "retards" if we dare to advocate for the conservation of marriage and the family, as we always have.
I'm really getting sick of the "former liberals" barging into the movement and trying to set the ground rules. If you have this kind of contempt for the basic tenants of conservatism then guess what? You aren't a former liberal. You're a current liberal.

Analysis Summary
Matt Walsh is criticizing someone he identifies as a 'former liberal' for accepting gay surrogacy while opposing traditional marriage โ based on a viral video of Shane McAnally and his surrogate baby that drew conservative backlash. The underlying incident is real, but Walsh's framing inverts the actual disagreement: the controversy isn't about whether someone should 'accept abominations' but about different views on parenting, surrogacy, and how to respond to a viral video. Walsh uses the incident to make a broader gatekeeping argument about who belongs in conservatism, but doesn't engage with why someone might support both conservative economics and LGBTQ+ rights โ treating these as inherently incompatible rather than separate policy domains.
