A mother in Shreveport, Louisiana recovering from a mass shooting that killed three of her children has a bullet lodged in her face that doctors opted not to surgically remove due to the risk of causing further damage. The shooting killed eight children total (seven of the shooter's own children and one cousin) on April 21, 2026, and was perpetrated by Shamar Elkins, 31, who was a former National Guardsman with prior firearm convictions and recent mental health treatment at a VA facility. Christina Snow is conscious and able to speak but is experiencing significant memory loss, sometimes waking unaware that her children are dead. The FBI has arrested someone in connection with the firearm used in the attack, and authorities continue investigating the motive though they have characterized it as domestic in nature.
