A man in Shreveport, Louisiana killed eight children—seven of his own—in a domestic violence shooting early Sunday morning, then was killed by police after fleeing in a stolen vehicle. The children ranged in age from 1 to 14, making this the deadliest U.S. mass shooting since January 2024. Police identified the suspect as Shamar Elkins; he also shot and wounded two adult women in the attack.
