Poland's Finance Minister Andrzej Domański is calling on the EU to release a frozen €90 billion loan to Ukraine immediately, now that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has been voted out after 16 years in power. Orbán had blocked the funds as part of a broader pattern of opposing EU aid to Ukraine and energy sanctions on Russia. The incoming Hungarian government under Péter Magyar has pledged to end such vetoes and realign with European mainstream policy, which could unlock the aid that Ukraine needs to cover its budget deficit and defense costs over the next two years as the war continues.
