Recently we celebrated Trans Day of Visibility, but words alone aren't enough. If you want to apply for GNOME Foundation membership you don't need to provide your legal name, you can use your actual name!
We recognise the cruel reality that many trans people's legal names are deadnames.

Analysis Summary
GNOME Foundation updated its membership policy to allow applicants to use their preferred name instead of requiring a legal name on applications, recognizing that many trans people's legal names don't match their actual identities. This removes a barrier that could have forced trans people to disclose deadnames during the membership process. The policy change was announced on Trans Day of Visibility and is backed by direct reference to the GNOME handbook.
