People in Europe, please don't let your politicians gaslight you like American politicians do to them.
After every school shooting is never the time to talk about gun control. Making it political is somehow "disrespectful" to the innocent children shot by mad men who got easy access to deadly weapons.
Now is the time to make every heat death political. Make every death count. Scream to the rafters. Hold public funerals for victims of heat deaths. Name the perpetrators. Don't let their deaths become meaningless.
Tell their stories. Use the opportunity to tell children about the lies of fossil fuels. Build monuments. Hold vigils. Sue fossil fuel companies for wrongful death.
Whatever tools you have, use them loudly and proudly. Don't let this slide.

Analysis Summary
Europe is experiencing a deadly heatwave in 2026 โ the Guardian reports it as the worst on record with 200,000 deaths across the continent in four years and nearly half of major cities facing unprecedented heat stress. The author is calling for climate activism similar to gun control advocacy after mass shootings: public funerals, lawsuits against fossil fuel companies, and naming responsibility rather than treating deaths as isolated tragedy. What's missing is that while heat deaths are real and rising, the comparison to gun violence casualty rates oversimplifies the causality question โ heat waves are complex phenomena influenced by multiple factors (infrastructure, poverty, access to cooling) where individual culpability is distributed differently than with gun manufacturers.
Claims Analysis (3)
โHeat has killed substantial numbers of Europeans in recent yearsโ

This reflects a documented pattern in US political discourse after mass shootings โ calls for 'not politicizing tragedy' are common rhetorical responses that delay policy discussion. The specific framing is accurate to observable political rhetoric.
โEurope is currently experiencing a severe heatwaveโ
Guardian reports 2026 heatwave as 'worst ever' with nearly half of Europe's 850 largest cities facing unprecedented heat stress. Multiple deaths documented including toddlers in France.
