Joseph diGenova, who worked on Trump's legal team during the Mueller investigation and the 2020 election efforts, has joined the Justice Department to work on the investigation into former CIA Director John Brennan. The appointment comes after the Justice Department removed a career Miami federal prosecutor leading the investigation after she resisted pressure to quickly bring charges against Brennan. DiGenova has previously described Brennan as a "real traitor" and said he should face criminal charges for allegedly lying to Congress—raising concerns about the impartiality of a Trump-aligned attorney overseeing an investigation into one of the president's longtime adversaries.
