Tennessee State Rep. Justin Jones is one of my personal heroes.
I recently had the chance to speak to him about the racist redistricting plot being enacted in his state and others in the South.
Republicans are trying to bring us back to the Jim Crow era that so many fought (and died) to end.

Analysis Summary
Tennessee's Republican House Speaker Cameron Sexton removed all Democratic representatives from committees after they protested a special legislative session that eliminated the state's only majority-Black congressional district — a move that news outlets confirm was retaliation for the Democrats' dissent. Reich's characterization of this as 'racist redistricting' reflects the actual outcome (elimination of a majority-Black district) though courts have not yet ruled on the legislature's intent, and his Jim Crow comparison is political framing rather than a factual claim. The PolitiFact reference you provided addresses a different claim (comparing the Tennessee Democrats' 2023 protest to January 6), which is not what Reich is asserting here — Reich is criticizing current redistricting, not making equivalence arguments about past protests.

Claims Analysis (3)
“Tennessee is enacting a racist redistricting plot”
Tennessee GOP redrew maps eliminating the state's sole majority-Black congressional district. Courts have not yet ruled on racial motivation, but the timing and effect support the claim.
“Republicans are trying to bring us back to the Jim Crow era”
This is comparative/historical framing of voting rights restrictions. The underlying redistricting is real; the Jim Crow comparison is political interpretation.
“Justin Jones is speaking out about redistricting in Tennessee and other Southern states”
News coverage confirms Jones and other Democrats were removed from committees after protesting the redistricting process. Reich interviewed Jones about this topic.
